Target Audience

Designed for hematologists and hematologic oncologists, medical, radiation, and surgical oncologists, and other healthcare professionals (e.g., physicians, physicians-in-training, oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physician assistants) who are involved and/or interested in the treatment of patients with hematologic malignancies.

Overview

Clinicians who treat hematologic malignancies in 2018 have more insight into the inner molecular mechanisms of leukemias, lymphoma, and myeloma and have more treatment options than at any previous time in medical history. Today’s hematologists/oncologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals who manage patients with hematologic malignancies must keep pace with a disconcertingly massive deluge of information on both nascent and established treatment options such as chemotherapies, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies in different sequences and combinations, as well as nonpharmacologic approaches. The intricacies of treatment are further compounded by patient variables such as whether the disease is newly diagnosed or relapsed/refractory and if the patient is generally fit and healthy or frail and fragile.

This activity intended to extend the reach of the content presented during L&M 2018 to clinicians who were unable to participate in the live congress, and to reinforce key points discussed in therapy area of lymphoma.


Objectives
  1. Assess the prognostic impact of molecular biomarkers and genetic mutations that are common to hematologic malignancies
  2. Evaluate the emerging role of immunotherapies as an intervention for hematologic malignancies 
  3. Devise tailored therapeutic strategies designed to realize optimal therapeutic response from hematologic cancer patients 
  4. Describe the mechanisms of action of new or emerging treatments that are designed to target molecular biomarkers or genetic aberrations that are frequently observed in hematologic cancers

Eligibility for pharmacy credit is contingent upon the successful completion of a post-test and/or evaluation for each activity or session attended. Please note that you must complete the activity evaluation within 60 days of a live activity or within 60 days of beginning the evaluation for an enduring activity. Under ACPE Policy, NACCME will not be able to report your activity completion to CPE Monitor after this 60-day period.
