ABSTRACT

Changes in health care delivery over recent decades, while needed, have come at a cost. The impact of these changes is very real. More and more of our healers are experiencing depression and even suicidal thoughts because they feel unable to do what they feel called to do: help people. Meanwhile, patients seeking healing and health routinely encounter frustrating interactions with a fragmented, expensive system that often fails to listen to their needs. The 3rd Conversation initiative was created to answer the question, “What would happen if we fused the two separate conversations of patients and frontline clinicians together in a new third conversation, and aimed their collective wisdom and power at meaningful health care system change?"
