Target Audience

This activity is designed for vascular surgeons, endocrinologists, podiatrists, nurses, primary care physicians, wound care specialists and diabetic educators.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

• describe new concepts in the pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy
• explain the role of endothelial dysfunction and how it can be manipulated
• demonstrate the remittive qualities of L-Methylfolate, pyridoxal-5-phosphate and methylcobalamin
• discuss theoretical maintenance “neural steady-state”
• review the role of homocystine in the ideology of diabetic neuropathy
• review the pharmacological agents for reduction of homocystine level
