Educational Dinner Symposium—An Interactive Learning Experience
|
Complimentary Live Dinner Meeting January 15, 2009 from 6:00am to 8:00pm at the Seaport Hotel, Seaport Ballroom, Boston, MA |
Simplification of AF: Advancements in 3D Imaging, Mapping and Ablation
Sponsored by North American Center for Continuing Medical Education, LLC
Target Audience
Electrophysiologists and allied health professionals who treat patients with atrial fibrillation
Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
- Apply 3D image guidance and its applications in order to achieve successful outcomes
- Discuss the integration of special analysis and advanced mapping software into daily practice
- Review new developments in mapping and ablation-simplified approaches to ablating paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
- review and apply the procedural approach a single institution has followed to achieve sucessful outcomes in atrial fibrilallation patients
- Provide an overview of the current literature in the field of 3D cardiac imaging, cardiac mapping and ablation as it pertains to atrial fibrillation
- Describe why RF disconnection of pulmonary veins does not absolutely require 3D mapping
- Describe how multipolar mapping and ablation catheters allow direct ablation after circumferential potential mapping
- Interpret intracardiac electrograms from a multipolar catheter which picks up signals from different levels at the pulmonary vein ostia
- Explain state of the art imaging to help with atrial fibrillation ablation and to indicate current and future developments that will improve and simplify these
- Emphasize the challenges of performing atrial fibrillation ablation and to indicate how energy delivery may be simplifiied for future ease and efficiency
- Become familiar with modern techniques of rotational angiography, 3D image reconstruction and overlay on fluoroscopy
- Discuss clinical applications of this technology
